My son

It has been a long time since my last blog. Life has been a bit busy. I just felt the need to talk about my boy, well young man now. Jacob is now 15 1/2. This week has been a tough week. We had a cardiac MRI done the end of last month. This was to determine whether they would do surgery this summer or wait another year. Well, Monday I got the call that they would like to go ahead with surgery this summer. Then on Wednesday we got the call to schedule the surgery. I have to say I have had many different emotions flow through me this week. I am sure I will continue to experience that in the weeks to come. So, Jacob will be having surgery on July 9th. The plan is that they will go in a replace the valve that they put in when he was two. Then with the valve that he was born with (it has been leaky since day one), the plan is to try and repair it and if not they will replace that one too.

This is a whole new ball game for us. He last surgery was 13 years ago. Megan wasn't even born yet. To think we have now 15 1/2 years of memories with him. Megan has only known having Jacob in her life. This is a hard situation. I definitely try to keep positive, but reality is that we do need to think or talk about all of what could be. I think denying that things could change are just being naive. The other thing is that he could end up having a pace maker. All these things that could happen really stink. On the other hand, we are very hopeful that he will feel tons better after this. I am ready to see how much more he can do and keep up with everyone else. I know some of this may sound grim, but know that I am hopeful of the future. I am trusting God completely. God has carried us this far, I don't think He would ever stop. I am so thankful that I do have God to reply on. I am not sure how I could handle all of this without him. He is and will continue to be my Rock. We have always felt that God is going to use all of this for His glory. I can look back and see how God has already used it. I look forward to seeing how He uses it this time around. I am thankful that my parents will be here to be at our side and to help with Megan.

We as a family would appreciate prayers from you all. Just knowing we are covered in prayer definitely will help.

Thank you!!!

Cardiology Appointment

To those of you who still check my blog, I have a request. Jacob has a cardiology appointment on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10:00. I would greatly appreciate prayer for us. This is always a hard time for me and for Ben. I seem to get anxious and worried. I trust God in it all, but that worry still creeps in. Jacob has been a little more tired lately. But my question is: Is it because he is a teenager or from his heart making his body work harder? I can tell he is more tired because he has bags under his eyes more often. Then I think to myself am I just searching for things. There are times I just feel like I want it to be time for surgery just to simply get it over with for a while. But then I think, no I am not ready. I know it will all happen in God's timing. Anyway, please just keep us all in prayer. Pray that we will get clear answers to when Jacob will need surgery. Thank you all for your prayers! I will post after his appointment to let you all know how it went.

Other than that we are all doing well. Both kids back in school and doing pretty well. Jacob is playing fall ball right now. And Megan is playing volleyball. Ben and I are doing good. Both of our jobs are good. Nothing else to really share. Oh yeah, I am coming down in Oct. for a weekend for my sister's wedding. I am looking forward to going to church at New Life, when I am there. Miss you all!

The Tornado

Just thought I would share some photo's from our tornado that hit about 10 miles from our house. These photo's are actually from our friends who were closer to the tornado. Let me just tell you it was incredible.
Ben & I were headed to store to just pick up a few items and saw the funnel cloud. It was really faint at first, then it almost looked like it was going away. Then all of a sudden we saw it get bigger and darker, and bigger and darker, and then the dust or whatever it was coming from the bottom. We decided to go back home. I guess it was touching ground for about 15 - 20 minutes. I was amazing. It is definitely something I will never forget. I am thankful that we were kept safe. I tell you with something like this, how can anyone doubt there is a God. That is just incredible. I was in awe over it all. Can you tell? :~)
Well, it is getting late so I need to go. I hope all is well with you. Missing my family and friends!!
Have a wonderful week!

Our yard!!

Just thought I would post some pictures of our finished yard. We have spent some much of our time on it in the last 3 months or so. It really has been a family effort though. The kids have been great helping. These pictures are from the morning after we laid the sod. So the clean up had not happened yet. Ben & I were up working on it passed 10:30 pm on Friday. It sure does feel good to have it done. We just have a couple of little things to do now. Jacob was a big help with the digging, spreading dirt, putting in the rock and the sod. Megan helped where she could, she helped mostly my helping to keep Molly entertained. That was great. We sure do work great as a family. I hope this all finds you doing well. We are doing really good here.

Take care,

Kim

Our patio & a beautiful sunset.

So, I thought I would post a couple of pictures. We have been working on our patio for about 2 months, and it is finally done. Whew hew! Ben did about 90% of the work. He is so good! I am a blessed woman.
Also, I have to share the beautiful sunset we have on Saturday night. I love it. Our next project is getting our sprinkler system in and then the rock & grass. Can't wait to get it all done. We are a bit tired of the dirt and mud being dragged in. Anyway, just wanted to share. We are still doing really well. Hope you are all well there. Have a wonderful week!
